I met him last time many years ago somewhere in Gumma pref, Japan. Told about coaching, kids, Australia and etc with lots of lough. I still can't believe I can have a chat with such a nice guy but clearly remember I felt strong passion in his eyes. Really appreciate what you've done for Japanese cricket, especially passing widely how to enjoy cricket and life. We miss you a lot. Well played, mate. Have a good rest with couple of icy cold stubby.

Laids and I both played cricket for the Tokyo Wombats. I have rarely met a more genuine and selfless person in my life. The world needs more people like him. We will miss you mate!

Laids was just a fantastic bloke. Selfless, infectiously positive. I expect he'll be sharing a drink and a laugh with Bob Hawke.

Laids your selfless attitude to life was inspiring to me. I will always remember you, in the depths of your own battles, looking out for others around you and making sure they were Ok. Always with that big smile and the, 'she'll be right mate'. RIP mate.

Laids was my coach when I was playing for the Japan national cricket team and team mate when I was playing for the Tokyo Wombats cricket club. I was lucky to tour with him on many occasions and share a drink. Above all he was a great mate and I will miss him. There needs to be more people in this world as positive and friendly as Richard. RIP mate.
